I LOVE the Purple Heart Project. I also love how you give everyone credit for the great work they do. Some time someone has to acknowledge the great work you've done putting it all together. God bless.

As a wounded veteran, woodworking has helped me get out of my mind. Using a hand plane, I have found the sound of planing to be very meditative.

You are awesome, Rob. I'm not a person who has ever worked with wood, nor am I veteran, but sitting here in Central Oregon, up from sunny So Cal here helping daughter winterize, I stumbled into your Dove Tail joint video and got glued to your video like one of your dove tail joint. I will subscribe and help and donate what I can when I can. Thank you for what you do...

Hey Rob... thanks for all the great work and teaching you and your awesome team do! I’m no expert but with regard to the “how to keep glue squeeze out off the end of an exposed/through tenon”.... perhaps putting glue on the hidden portion of the tenon as opposed to the mortise...when the tenon is seated into the mortise... the glue will squeeze toward the shoulder of the tenon..? If glue squeezes out from the shoulder... one could use the “straw tip” to clean it up.

Fantastic show, and great causes. I'd like more information for the workshop detail for soldiers in my area. We are in Joplin, Missouri. Thank you, and God bless.

45 years US Army (22 in uniform/23 DAC) and unplugged woodwork has been my savior. I now live in Germany where they have strick noise restrictions so unplugged is the only way to go.

Hey you can't avoid it but if you take a shorthaired brush and half hot water and half kerocine it easy to remove and it does not disturbe you later tratment of your workpeise.

52:50 cannot agree more, the mortise chisel needs to be square in cross section. square mortise chisel does not bind and does not twist in the cut. In my experience, the square chisel leaves cleaner and smoother cheeks.

Rob, have you thought about putting up a whiteboard during these sessions? Looks like you wish you could draw sometimes when explaining things.

I am working on a project that has a wedged through tenon. So I have to cut a mortise that is 3/4" X 1 1/2" that gose through a 5 1/2" peace of wood. The exit side of that mortise is 3/4" X 1 1/4" to make the wedge work. I have done one of them. It came out ok not perfect. It was almost impossible to use a mortise chisel that deep. I am thinking of drilling with a 3/4" bit first than pairing away the rest. Is this a bad idea? Any advice or video?

Rob, you mentioned in another video the mortise and tenon joint used to be the standard for furniture joinery (when appropriate).
What replaces it in modern furniture?
