In early September of 2014, 78 friends and supporters of Liu Bolin gathered at Klein Sun Gallery in Chelsea to participate in the world renowned artist's newest series. With the help of a specialized crew over one week, Liu Bolin camouflaged participants into two photographs: one of the new 2013 one hundred-dollar note and one of a traditional Chinese landscape painting. Every aspect of the project was labor intensive. The models' poses, for example, were exceptionally difficult to hold for an entire day as their dramatic gestures were derived from classical and medieval European paintings. Nonetheless, Liu Bolin has refined this demanding process to synthesize the precise painting and photographic executions necessary to create these works. This film demonstrates the focus, expertise, and discipline required of everyone involved. Enjoy watching Liu bring this incredible project together!
