Controversial Israeli rabbi says breaking Shabbat rules to block aid to Gaza is ‘permissible’

Controversial Israeli Orthodox rabbi Dov Lior responded on Thursday to questions from his followers about whether they could violate the rules of the Shabbat in order to block aid trucks headed for Gaza and said that he believes doing so is “permissible”.

Earlier this week, hundreds of Israelis went to the Kerem Shalom crossing to prevent trucks carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians from entering Gaza.
