Thank you! You explained everything very well! I have always been interested in the 5-thread but everyone around me seems to be using the 4 more. I will now get my 5 threader! 🤗

I'll link to this video because it will save me two or three pages of explanation. However, you should include information on which machine is advised for knits and which for wovens, as well as why. The machine that makes the chainstitch off the edge on the left is essentially for wovens, whereas the stitch on the right is either made for or may stretch.

Thanks. Great overview of options. 512 stitch overlocks seem to pop up used more than 514 lately so was curious the difference.

Thanks for the video ...i just got a 5thrrad serger from a friend who never used it before...when i got it serviced the guy told me to only do a 3 thread stitch so i don’t get threads mixed and needles broken

What's the purpose of the fourth thread (extra needle) on the 4 thread machine is it just for safety? I'm looking to get a serger and I mostly do wovens and bridal wear, what kind of serger would you recommend?
