Then there’s germany, where unless you are in a big city, you’re lucky to have Edge. Also a few years back, instead of investing in fibre optic internet, our government decided to instead used that money for copper cables. As a result of this, 100Mbps is the best you’ll get for a reasonable amount of money (40€/month where I live)

"haven't noticed a difference" totally not because 5G doesnt exist in my country yet

Where I am ~6mi away from the nearest tower, I’ve noticed a HUGE difference. T-Mobile long-range 5G allows me to get ~20mbps with ONE bar. With 4G/LTE I can get a max of 4mbps

AT&T removed support for my early 4G phone, I figured it was just a way to try and force people to buy new phones.

I’m in Australia, Here we still got 3G. 5G gives speeds of 1.2gb/S. In England, there are still 2g towers. I don’t know what your talking about 3G is wildly used.

so when my phone company forced me to upgrade to a 5g phone offering me $6 for a phone I just paid $900 for 3 months prior and increased out monthly charges to accommodate for 5g it was a scam?

Who would've thought

Australia still has 3G and even 2g in some places

3g hasn't been deprecated yet. 2g is still running. 1g was just shut down.
Hell, analog was only shut down in like 2010

You sure about 3g? I'm sure here there are still some 2g towers working and i use 3g daily sometimes.

I really don’t want to let go of 4g, it’s a more reliable connection that maintains connection through walls better than 5g just due to the physics behind the wavelength as I understand it.

I used to play clash of clans on 2G. What a time to be alive.

Another issue is that shutting down the 3G networks actually slowed down the 5G and 4G networks. This happened because phones built capable of utilizing all those networks can no longer drop to the 3G network to alleviate bandwidth crowding. Their stuck in 4 and 5G networks now.

The old trick of turning of your 4/5G connection to speed your phone up in crowded places no longer works like it used to.

A phone can still drop to 4G from 5G but often that network is just as if not more crowded.

Yeah I hate it when I can't download furry p*rn at 20 Gbit/s when I'm on the road. Happens everytime.

Tf you mean "last 3g tower"? My train goes past like 3 of those and at one point even a 2g tower

5g sucks I was trying to pay the other day I was on 4g network and THE PAYMENT FAILED LIKE 4 TIMES and then I switched to 4g and it was a success on the first try 😅

I still have a contract with my mobile carrier that gives me 4G with 50Mbits max. It's enough for me and my phone doesn't even support 5G. I'll wait until prices go down to a point where I could potentially use my phone's internet for my PC on a daily basis as well. Right now, that's just not really applicable.

I've used 5g and honestly they should've just kept 4g because it's more reliable. BTW what are people doing on their phones that they need more than 100mbs? Like really is someone streaming raw 4k without compression on their phone or something?

My country almost doen't have full 4g coverage.
