Scotch eggs, we make 2-3 dozen every year for Christmas morning breakfast. Have our own chickens and sausage made by a neighbor. Love it! Colemans mustard is a necessity! (Edit) Now that I’ve watched the whole thing I’ll add that they freeze well. Take it out into the woods, it thaws overnight and heated over the flames at breakfast will come out just as fresh as if you just made it.

Scotch Eggs are also nice cold. Which is how they are usually eaten here in the UK. Also they are made with breadcrumbs on the outside here. We think of them as picnic food, or something tasty to have in your lunch box at work. Most supermarkets and petrol stations sell them alongside pasties, pork pies, and sausage rolls etc. In other words they are pretty commonplace over here.

I had to laugh. We boil eggs in our percolator coffee maker just like you did. I switched from a drip maker to a percolator when a YT bushcrafter commented that his coffee tasted better in his camp percolator than it did at home. I did some searching and found a lot of comments to the effect that coffee tastes better in a percolator than in a drip maker. I bought an electric percolator and it does “wake up” the flavor of coffee more than a drip maker. My wife and I have been drinking perked coffee for almost 3 years now and love it. And it is faster and easier to make hard boiled eggs with a percolator than putting a pan of water on the stove.

I've made these. I used bread crumbs, not corn flakes but corn flakes are a good idea. Delicious. I found that good spicy English mustard pairs perfectly with them. Great video, Dave.

Hey Dave . Im the guy asking you to show how to make a tomahawk steak so I can do it while camping . I should have said b4 .. Im talking about a THICK ( 3-4 inches thick ) tomahawk steak. I guess its kind of a mini roast / steak at that thickness. We then carve it up into thin strips to eat . You cant get them at a grocery store usually . I have to go to a butcher to get mine. Thanks so much Dave . Love your videos bud .

Love Scotch eggs! When I am in the kitchen at home I bake them instead of frying, but either way they are amazing.

Used to make these with quail eggs and panko bread crumbs. Haven’t been able to find a good source of fresh quail eggs lately and I miss them. They’re also spectacular using a soft-boiled egg; chill after peeling. Don’t overcook and you have a beautiful runny yolk… outstanding. Your videographer might want to lay off the catnip 🐈

Thanks for sharing that recipe. Looks fairly quick and easy for a main camp breakfast.

Found my next camp breakfast! Love the tip about hard boiled eggs in the percolator. I’ve done that a couple times. Never thought to do scotch eggs though. I’ve been doing cold-oil-start baby red potatoes in the morning for a while so dropping some scotch eggs in the oil after the potatoes come out would be a bonus for sure. No loss of time or another dirty pan for eggs and bacon as well Thanks!

Hope you’re having as much fun making this video series, as we have watching! It’s great to show people that just because you’re camping/outdoors doesn’t mean you can’t also eat good! If possible could you also include some wild game/ fish in your videos to show more people that hunting isn’t just about killing.
