I've only heard Judas Priest once before with the song Painkiller so today we're continuing down the rabbit hole. Here they are performing "Victim of Changes" LIVE in 1983.

First of all, I was there. I'm even in the crowd videos, pretty much second row. Second, I met Rob about 3 years later at a bar next to LAX. (Yeah, it was a gay bar) I was introduced to him by one of his best friends, Lemmy Kilmister. Long story but, Lemmy said, "We have to pick up my friend at the airport. He's a queen & he's one of my best friends. Don't tell anyone because it would hurt him". And I never did until years later. I was 19. Rob & Lemmy treated me like gold. Two of the most beautiful human beings I've ever met. I learned more about humanity from these two wonderful people than most of the folks I dealt with during the 80's...

This is why he is known as the Metal God. His range is incredible.

Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are such a fantastic guitar duo!

On the studio version, especially during the slow middle bit, he sings the lines much more, sustaining the notes with nice vibrato. When you catch live versions, the bands have been on the road for months, performing nightly, and you can hear it in Rob's voice here. He's cutting a lot of notes short to preserve his voice, probably for the high notes, for which of course, Rob is legendary.

I love when Halford sings higher than the guitar.

Wow. Rob was singing like a guitar solo. He’s able to do what ever he wants. Awesome!

Even at his advanced age, he's still got it. He's one of the few who can still hit the notes he was hitting in his 20's while being in his 70's.

You should experience Dreamer, Deceiver / Deceiver off of Sad Wings of Destiny (STUDIO - NOT LIVE) and/or Here Come The Tears / Dissident Aggressor off of Sin After Sin album. You'll get all kinds of range!!! And he does all his own harmonies.

Welcome to the world of Metal, Bethany. Been here for 40 years and I'm still in love with it.
Love your videos. Perfect balance between spontaneous reaction and technical comments.

Metal is never lip synced this why we love metal. It's live, raw and real. And it kicks motherfuggin ass. No studio over dubs just live and I've seen them 5 times, absolutely amazing live

Never seen anyone like this have such a technical appreciation and understanding of this genre of music and with this particular group. Rob Halford and the band, amazing energy and precision, drive, passion, and rhythm. Bethany, you're awesome. Thank you.

A few people showed up for this one! My favorite heavy metal singer. Two of the greatest complimentary guitarists ever!

JP's tones, rhythms, melodies and dynamics always give me chills. I highly recommend you check out their cover of Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust" and their cover of (early-Peter Green era) Fleetwood Mac's "The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)" from the Unleashed In the East live album. Top notch performances. Their biographical take on Jack the Ripper ("The Ripper") is fantastic as well.
