The fact that Bogdan even stopped shaving says a lot about the seriousness of the project

The fact that it is actually starting to look like the actual exoskeleton of the power armor is amazing.

Fun fact about Fallout's Power Armor, in lore the weight was one of the biggest issues with inventing the thing. And what ended up happening was that only a fraction of the armor actually uses steel. The skeleton/frame of power armor, as well as the massive bullet resistant plating attached to that frame are made of lightweight alloys and composites. Which although expensive, made the super soldier dream come true, especially when it allows you to hold vehicle mounted turrets.

That said, even ripping turrets off their mounts and swinging them around has some heft to it that puts a load on the armor's capabilities and requires alot of control from the user so maybe you don't have to make it be able to lift a car exactly

In before it turns out they actually needed the clean room to develop cold fusion technology to power the exoskeleton and told *nobody*

The trick with power armor is that the suit supports itself and the human kind of just sits inside floating
Edit: why is this one of the top 5 most liked comments

I love how you’ve gone back to the more natural feeling of video making. The scripted segments I felt didn’t work as well but watching you all talk about the project and naturally good around and bounce off each other during testing makes these videos so much more fun to watch. As always love the work. Great job everyone.

Following the progress of this build might be the most worthy wait we could have. Love the direction it is headed in. Especially impressed with the aluminum frame surviving lifting of the 250 or 275 lbs that you did. More plasma!

i love Fallout Power armour its one of the few in fiction that actually seems somewhat viable to exist its heavy and bulky, and it functions more as a heavy weapons platform over pure protection in the lore (at least ignoring some of the more weird scalings)

I have thought about designing a power armor suit similar to the Astartes of Warhammer 40k. An Astartes uses what is called the Black Carapace to interact with the power armor seamlessly and essentially the armor becomes a second skin. I saw RussianBadger's video a while back talking about his motion capture suit. If you could utilize the mocap suit to pick up the user's motion and tranfer it to pneumatic pistons to move the body, that might be the most fluid way. Your video did spark some new ideas. My current idea is to have the power armor user essentially floating in the pressure cuffs while wearing the mocap suit. As the user moves and pushes against the cuffs, the mocap suit picks up the user's motion and is able to tranfer it to the correct pistons or servos and mimic the user's motion. The power armor of the Astartes does use a machine spirit to help pick up and understand the Astartes movements and reactions. A lower grade form of Artificial Intelligence could be used to help the armor move and work with the user.
I do not have the time, the money, the skills, the room, the tools, or the supplies to even attempt this. But it is good and fun to dream.

Super excited to see this build. The pressure cuff arm fit is a great idea!

The military contractors have been alerted.

Also it is very nice to see James actually working on the project.

7:09 The weight that he says the armor would be if they didn’t try to save weight is pretty close to the canon weight of power armor. T-51 power armor is canonically 2000 pounds in the fallout universe (not the in-game weight, but the weight according to lore)

That inception reference was actually perfect

Fun fact: while testing the power armor in fallout (lore) one of the testers got twisted 360° bc of hydraulic failure

You gotta coat the armor in the thing you guys used for the adamantium bones! Make it indestructible!

I love the more genuine feeling conversation between Bogdan and James

3:30 The following footage shows just why in the earlier games Player Character needed "Power Armour Training" Perk in-game to wear Power Armour.
