Tigers are finally getting some videos benefitting them. 😊😆

Thank you for letting the play run out, start to finish first, letting us see it ... and then chopping it up with frequent stops, rewinds, stops, rewinds, short advance, rewind, etc. Heck, you'd do well to run it twice and then break it down. Too many of these videos don't let us see the whole play until the end, so eager are the creators to hear themselves talk and not let the play speak for itself. Thank you. Nicely done! ❤

I'm flabbergasted the Tigers had a man that knew how to bunt AND he came to bat in this situation.

I know it's not even the same play at all...but this somehow reminded me of when I was playing a baseball game on the PS2 back in the day. I had the bases loaded with nobody out, and bunted, sending all the runners. I somehow missed the bunt, and the runner coming home nailed the catcher trying to block the plate and knocked the ball loose, everybody's safe! The announcer even said something like "well, now I've seen everything!" lol

"...and if he gets slashed on he might die." Hilarious, Go Tigers!

We used to run what I assume is a homemade special when defending this, as I’ve never seen anyone do it.

It assumed that the runner on 2B was not going until the bunt was laid down and that the least aware guy is probably the runner on 1B.

So, we pitched out.

Catcher threw behind the runner at 1B (to the 2Bman covering) and forced him into a run down. SS covered 2B, and 3B faked like they were coming in but went back to the base. If the guy at 2B wanted to try for 3B, we simply threw to 3B and got him in the run down.

End of the day, if executed, we had a runner at 2B with and Out. Making the sacrifice bunt less likely on the next pitch. And if we were up by 1 or 2, less likely to lose on a hit.

I never cease to be amazed how often pitchers make poor throws fielding. One would think pitchers would be very accurate, but I they just don’t practice fielding and throwing enough.

As soon as the ball gets by the 3rd baseman, the infielders have a look of: "Well screw that shit. Let's get into our first beer."

Wheel play is such an exciting and beautiful play regardless, whether it's successful or not. The weakest link
is as you've stated, the pitcher. Especially, in this situation where the pitcher has to pick the ball, spin and throw.
Most of the time, the "spin" of the picture induces an unpredictable throw to any base the pitcher throws to.

Also a big part of this is the pitcher is right handed, so by bunting soft and to the third base side the momentum of running off the mound and then have to get around makes it extremely difficult. Between the pitch follow through, the dash to the ball and then throwing to third, that is a lot of spinning

Where was the pitch clock? The pitcher may have had to pitch it before the clock ran out and the SS didn't realize it.

I say 3rd baseman should've called off the pitcher, and gone "conservative" for the out at 1B. You're right, and if I may paraphrase: Most pitchers are as poor fielders as they are hitters. Plus, the Dodgers aren't about strategic baseball, just dingers. Just so happens they get enough to win the NL West, and ultimately choke--unless the spectators are cardboard cutouts.

We were always taught as the baserunner at second to start to follow/shade the ss as he breaks to negate some of that advantage Also as the bunter to aim between 3b and P because both have to stop and turn to throw

What's the point of the coach's box being painted on the field if the coach can be on the base-path and almost in the play?

playing shortstop, this defense almost got me kicked off the team... practiced it 10 times without one success and about 5 throws into the outfield, before I yelled at the coach that this stupid play would never work...stand by my assessment.

Also, notice the outfielders moving to back up 1st and 3rd. Every fielder has a job on every play.

Pitcher gets a clean grip initially and the guy is out by 3 feet easy, and if you gonna lose do it with flair

Why is the 3rd base coach allowed to be that close to the play.. First of all he looks like a runner. Also he then runs onto the lane?? Little league stuff.
