I questioned “Who am I?” up through my mid-20s. In order to find the answer, I had to lean on God and let Him lead me. (Had I not, depression would have eaten me alive.) He took me overseas, where I became the teacher and adult I wanted to be, and I made friends who became the family I chose ☺️

Wow I really needed to hear this today!! I have always wanted to be my greatest potential self; I had an inner yearning to remember who this was, and I grew up feeling a shunned, alien-like, not quite fitting in somehow trying to find this; then I wore down & allowed life to lead me; but I somehow had always believed in ARETE (excellence of any kind)...that never went away; The demonstration of little things, like uncommon courtesy & kindness never left me; my wanting to speak to all animals no matter their shape or size (even if I was laughed at for it) again never stopped me from doing it! If I went snorkeling, believe it when I say I sang to the fishes...I felt it was something freely I could give that the fish might not have heard in a while (call it strange, yes I know) but I continued to do this. I have tried to communicate how much you have influenced my mind when I was younger telepathically only until recently I mustered the courage to send you a tweet to say so...but I will say it again here for all to see that you Oprah Winfrey impacted my life early on with your film The Color Purple (long before you were a talk show host); yes part of my family is from Chi town (same neighborhood as Kayne West), & for the longest time it was my favorite city in the world; so thank you, words are not enough to express my appreciation for you all through these years of your relentless demonstration of you, just being you!!
