The Turkish company STM is preparing to send more than 500 Kamikaze Kargu (UAV) drones to the Turkish military soon, Defenseworld reported .
This autonomous attack drone entered the Turkish Armed Forces inventory about a year ago, Anadolu reported on Monday, the drone is currently undergoing improvements.
With advanced machine vision capabilities, Kargu can carry out single attack missions or as part of a pack of drones for up to 20 platforms.
Efforts are currently underway to streamline and improve the swarm algorithm to perform different tasks. In addition, Ankara seeks to integrate Kargu with ships, armored vehicles and autonomous systems on land.
According to the report, drones have been tested in various countries, and STM companies are in talks with three countries interested in the Kargu drone.
The Turkish KERKES project aims to provide autonomous navigation capabilities with real time image display on UAVs in battle environments where GPS information is not available or where the GPS system has a jammer attack. This project will allow drones to function smoothly on any terrain.
Twelve to eighteen months after the completion of the KERKES program, STM can offer Kargu drones with full capabilities to the Turkish Army.
