I heard a story about an SR71 asking ATC for clearance to 80, 000 feet. The controller said if you can get to 80, 000, you got all the clearance you want. The SR71 replied roger, commencing descent to 80, 000.

My father for years worked on the SR-71 and could never tell us about it for the longest time. Every now and then, he would call us from his work in Landcaster California and let us know that skunkworks was taking it out for testing. We would go outside and wait for that thing to streak across the dessert floor. It would buzz right over our house. What an amazing thing to see. As soon as you saw it come into view, it was going out of view. It would rattle the house. Until you see it, you wouldn't believe it. Such a beautiful jet.

My dad was air traffic control for the black bird . He served the usaf from 1953 to 1976 . he retire out of Tyndall Air Force base. He his 87 years old . He has Dimension. He forgets me most the time. But not that blackbird
