I met Chet when we both attended. El Camino College in Carson, California, ...we just clicked....he as the teacher and I as the student....he taught me everything that I know about quality contemporary music....and even though to this day I cannot read a note of music..I have had a successful career as a session musician for 35 years ( even played with Bird and Diz at an Open mic session at Birdland back in the 50s) He got me my first gig with the Shelly Manne group in North Hollywood at a. Joint called Sorrentino’s. I was with him in Toronto just weeks before his passing and he was playing so well...everything was working and coming together. I miss him so much every day my life.

I am 82 years old now...and so far ...after all these years I have not heard anything better than this ( maybe Miles “Love Songs”)...Chet’s playing was so lyrical....in hindsight ..it could‘nt was too good to be true.!!

This really makes me feel calm, especially in those lonely nights when I feel overwhelmed by life, these songs really help me to carry on when I feel unmotivated and sad, thanks Chet.

Through many years, listening to Chet Baker has given me a special kind of peace and appreciation for the particular pleasure that comes with hearing his beautiful music.

Long before I became a professional singer/ musician, Chet Baker touched my soul in the third person as it were. As a very young schoolboy, I was walking home past a cottage in Margate, Natal South Africa. A trumpeter with of one of the resident bands in town was playing 'My Funny Valentine'. I could`nt help myself, I had to find out where that beautiful song came from. That trumpeter introduced me to Jazz, the trumpet, and Chet Baker. So began a musical journey that has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Chet for all the wonderful music.

I'm in isolation and this is just what I need to remain emotionally calm, yet alert and aware. Thank you Chet.

You can not choose jazz, jazz chooses you.

Chet Baker doesn't have that beautiful voice but it touches me, the whole construction is that beautiful. It makes me get along better with myself.

Thank you, Chet, for all the beautiful music you gave us when alive, and continue giving it to us thanks to technology. You were, and remain, one of the greatest jazz musicians.

He would sometimes complain that his chops got sore....but he understood that it was something that he had to live with. He was very wary of strangers....very wary of people he did not would sit around a lot and talk about the early days in LA with he involved with cats like Shorty Rogers and Art Pepper and Bud Shank and Hampton Hawes and Shelly Bill Holman and Bob Cooper. All I have left now are faded memories and his beautiful, beautiful music.

Chet Baker dont play the instrument, he sing with his any other trumpeter we listen to the virtuoso and to the trumpet.... With Baker there is no more trumpet playing, only a soul touching song.... There is no difference when he sing with his voice or with the trumpet, even when is voice is desintegrating....And it is a big mystery than a voice which at times can sing no more still touch the soul with so much soul of Chet Baker did not die even after so much drug after the lost of his teeth he resurrect himself on another level, more touching of the soul than ever....His last albums are no less heart breaking....I like many other musician on the trumpet, but not one can make stones shed tears but is on a league of his

i think the only other jazz artist that touch me on the same level is Bill Evans who dont play the piano so much but make a singing that tilt the heart like Chet....Bill Evans is in the same boat on the sea of pure art....Forgetting all written biographies about them, are they not obviously 2 separated twin brothers from the same unknown father?

Just one more bit of trivia....I was doing a gig in Anaheim, Calif when I heard about his accident the day after he died. I completed the gig...then I took all my stuff (keyboards etc etc) to the local pawn shop and sold EVERYTHING....AND I MEAN EVERYTHING!! walked away from playing live ever again. It’s been 31 years....and have never touched a keyboard since that day....never played a note. To me it all ended then...it was over then. Now at 83 years ...I have the memories and beautiful music such as this to get me by each day!
