Go to Mason's Guild and enter the trap door in the back of the building. Continue through the tunnels until you find a large room with a stone table in the center. There will be combat in this room, but once completed, head over to the big stone table and read the Mason's Log. This will complete the quest

Add this one to the LARGE list of bugged quest. The game keeps not giving me Completions for various quest. It’s done it 5 times now on my 1st play through.

No wonder i couldn’t find this quest location. Journal says at the Mason’s guild. Been looking around trying to trigger the quest and nothing happened. Left for Baldur’s Gate and quest was lost as completed. 😢

Not as this video was any good, book? Letter? Name of said item?
Either way I did this area and nothing, I checked the 300 books I've got and the 200 letters I've got and nope nothing. Maybe I burnt it while I fought the things down there. Either way the Quest is still showing as active and if I can't do the quest because the (letter or book) has been destroyed then the game needs to reflect that or I could be here for an eternity trying to solve it. This is the only thing that has annoyed me so far in this game
