How To Convert Month Name to Month Number in Excel

We’re going to use two functions here. First, we need to convert the text to a valid date serial number. I’ll do that using the Date Value function.
Write =Datevalue(A1&1)

This will convert our month name into a valid excel date serial number. Now we need to extract the month from that serial number and for that we will use the Month function. Now if we combine these two functions the formula will look like this
=Month(Datevalue(A1&1))

This is how you convert month name to month number in excel.
