A knife like this is designed solely for defensive purposes. If you want a utilitarian knife with the same cutting power, get a 4/5 Max, or an SR1. They're much sturdier blades. A Rajah II is also a good bet.

Well I gotta say I enjoyed the review. And thank you for offering a practical point to the knife. Definitely here in Europe it's a knife to enjoy looking at; to have; a conversational piece etc...but you ain't going to see someone walking down the streets of Rome on their way to a museum with this thing😂😂😂😂!!!

Thanks, Dirk. This one just puts a crooked, wicked grin on my face. Picked up the S35VN version for a ... steal. Glad it has the Atlas ... cuz one's fingers must NOT be in the path of this one.

Good review buddy!!! the Mayhem is definitely a monster. I am also a bit wary of the lock being deactivated by accident while in use, the same as a button lock. It kinda gives me Pirate vibes.

I love a good bruiser, but that is a backpack mini sword! Cheers!

The Atlas lock is great. While I prefer the Shark lock, Cold Steel basically stole it and made it slightly worse now that Andrew Demko is no longer part of CS. That said, it's as strong as a Triad lock (or possibly stronger), but so much easier to deploy (it's fidget friendly...to an extent). The Mayhem is an absolute monster in 'practical' use...I have an S-35VN version that stays in the box, but I've put my Aus10A through a LOT of abuse over the past two years...and it's held up like a champ. Yeah it's huge, but it really doesn't carry big for it's size at all. If I were given the choice of any folder to carry for self defense, it'd be hard to pass on the Mayhem...I would probably go with a Frenzy (amazing knife) first, but either a Mayhem or Talwar second over the Espada or Vaquero.

I really wanted one until I saw the price, which is absurd for what it is. It's a similar size and same materials as the Rajah 2, but way more expensive. I get that it's a new design and new lock, but it doesn't deserve that much more money.
I ended up getting a Bastinelli Big Dragotac instead, even though it was more expensive. At least the price was appropriate for the Bastinelli.

Lock up 100% excellent, no exceptions. Honestly cannot fathom any narrative of negativity on this function? Can you please redo this review, this is, Honestly bs. No disrespect meant.
