So much for the establishment’s prohibiting minors from entering host clubs!!. Thankyou, I learnt a few words ❤ I like how you two talk back & forth. Great topic. Japanese gov did a press release with Tokyo host clubs and they agreed to not allow minors in, as part of their endeavor to stop the prostitution & suicide rate in these underage girls.

I'm glad you brought this up, and the discussion in Japanese was good for me to listen too, but his looked really stressful for your husband. It's a terrible situation, and seems like local police just don't want to deal with it. America has similar problems that many people (and police) would rather just ignore. As a visitor, I've seen many more "horizontal" young people in Shinjuku for several years (since 2020), and my understanding is that many of them were "runaways" who's home situation was so bad that they preferred to live on the street than home. I had also heard of the "host club" problem before, but it was mostly older (wealthier?) women. Now メンズコンセプト seems like it's preying on these younger women. I read 十四歳 and just felt sick to my stomach.

If they can stop public drinking in Shibuya, they can stop this too.

Toyoko comes from 新宿東宝ビルの横 (トー横), it's not even close to a toyoko inn

Thank you for speaking Japanese in a way I can actually understandm most of it (also helpful with the subtitles) 😁! Great for my listening skills.
Also interesting to learn more about current subjects/news.
Btw I’ve worked in a “hostess-light”-bar in Shibuya (long time ago), which makes it even more interesting. Our place was very innocent and didn’t pay as much though (fortunately). No alcohol while at work and no touching. But loads of talking (didn’t speak any Japanese but began to understand a little after a couple of months).

I watch this with intention learn follow some conversation. However, there is some things what i dont want to know. As a father, these things are so sad to watch. I wonder where these girls fathers are? Also why police let these clubs to be open?14y old, god sake.

Its still good that you guys talk abt this. Public pressure on police is one way make change for better future.

The government should absolutely enforce increased surveillance of underage entry into the host clubs and increase police involvement in all related areas....
The filtering of japanese media being so high is another side of this issue… attributable to taboos around discussion of uncomfortable issues in Japan… although slowly improving… is unacceptable !

I had an interview with Sony in the 90s and the manager asked me : ‘do you get the Japanese?’ He rejected me. But since then I have been trying to get the Japanese without being in japan. Big fail. I love the Japanese. I will try and live there but for god’s sake make it easier to let me in.

I thought she said "Jesus." when the kid said her age, she was just repeating. "じゅよんさい"

I was thinking "Jesus."
