In this video I discuss what I would like to see in the sequel to Grounded or the next game in the series if one is made.

After recording and uploading the video I realized I forgot one feature that I think is absolutely mandatory if there is another Grounded game, official mod support. The reason so many survival games keep a thriving community after release is community mods that change the game and add new content. Grounded doesn't have any mods that do that and while Playground mode could be used to create some cool things it's just not the same as full blown community mods.

A cold season would be cool but insects don't function in the cold... so maybe a freezer that's opened that you can access and have to craft a coat from gnat, mite, or bee fuzz with specialty crafting items inside there

I really want a more dynamic yard, the fact it’s mostly static kind of makes things way less interesting.

Like imagine a part of the yard is getting mowed or something so it’s dangerous to go over there for that day.

Or maybe like the trash bags slowly build up and offer differing treasures, until trash day when they all get removed and the cycle repeats?

Stuff like that could make the yard feel more alive

I would love an improved pet system. Like if they aren’t with you, you could make them either gather resources or guard the base. Like ants could gather human food. Or you could have a pet bee that will help guard against raids from flying bugs

If they add a lawnmower, they could make it to where the grass gets longer and gives extra resources from the extra long grass but it only last for so long because they come to cut the grass down back to regular size

I would love to see not just mounts but if your pets could fight with you. a dodge mechanic would be fun. Since a lot of attack home in there would need to be a brief period of I frames so you could perfect dodge or something. I think being able to have two single handed weapons would be cool like knives, small swords, and small axes. Being able to mix and match them would give you a lot of different options for combat.

Those are just some of the things that I would love to see.

Personally I’d like to see an expansion to other yards. Like a hole in the fence where you can go into the neighbor’s yard and find new resources and bugs. Maybe even set up field stations of your own there. I’d also like some automated systems for farming and manufacturing at your base. Like a way to take control of a robot and be able to give them basic tasks.

Lol it’s so easy for the devs. There are more Insects (arthropods) than any other animal in this world. They could go for a rainforest biome or a desert biome. These both have completely new and different insects that can be very dangerous. Maybe woah mode should just be the desert biome. Desert centipede boss? That’d be the scariest but release yet

My thoughts for a Grounded 2 would be different backyard themes, for example a zen guarden or a rain forrest that way they can add different bugs that only live in those particular regions of the world, they could even have a portal that we use to travel to different backyards around the world that are needed to defeat the new boss of the game. I would like to have more building options and matirials and less limitations on how things get built. I would like to see more armor sets and weapons not just different variants of weapons like why dont we have nunchucks yet? Would also like to see them fix the multiplayer problems that occur when you play co-op, there are major lag issues when playing in someone elses world no matter how close you live to that person, or your wifi or hardwired connection it was always there or you would get kicked from the world just terrible connection issues all around. More overworld bosses and story bosses drop a weapon or armor item special to them. In all honesty there is SOOO much they could do in a grounded 2 game that i dont see why they wouldnt make another one and make it to where the game lasts for multiple years while adding dlc content

Talking about a cold biome what if around the end of the game you could knock the cooler down under the table and use mite/dust mite fur to make a jacket or a special boss but of course you can’t go back up to the table unless you us the sand box zipline

The next game I would love to see a ice biome or a kiddie swimming pool hat makes it feel like the ocean. Another idea is an end game idea is having a jetpack by using the soda drops to propel you

If they added a sequel, I think that Shmector broke out of jail and rekidnapped the teens, but this time he abducted wendell and brain washed him.

More pets & the ability to use them for stuff like resource gathering, base defense, etc. is definitely a need. Ability to farm more resources at your base as well. A faction meter would be awesome, such as showing your relationship with the insects & the ability to increase factions with insects through quests in order to befriend them for different benefits, i.e., assistance in battle, delivering resources, not aggroing you, etc.

A teleport machine to take you to backyards based in different countries, a Japanese themed backyard would go crazy

Centipedes, flies, crickets, maggots, silverfish...

New skins/outfits.

Newer tech, like glider made from plastic and paperclips.

Bungee cord/elevator system, something more than just trampolines and ziplines until late game.

Base defense systems, something that can be unmanned and defend.

Underwater building allowed.

Tamable critters.

In terms of invading enemies events, there are actually quite a few invasive species of ants that could be utilized, I used to watch Antscanada a lot and some of them might be amazing additions like the crazy ants

I would like to see a different area with different kids with a different group getting there hands on the technology and having it go wrong, then not only have to survive but slowly repair the equipment first. I would like to see dragonflies and dragonfly larva, Grass hoppers or crickets, fleas and assassin bugs.

I think it would be cool especially for story implications to have big world/small world transfer. Maybe you have to dig a hole revealing a secret lab, maybe you have to talk and convince npcs that their backyard investigation is important, maybe you have to obtain and shrink a secret security badge.

- More than 1 yard/environment. Like somehow via the story you start off maybe outside the fenced yard where it's like a wild Construction zone (one that isn't being used at the time, funds ran out or waiting for a permit or whatever, but all the equipment is there). Lots of chunky holes and mounds and piles of stuff and machines and shrubbery and puddles etc to explore and maybe you have to somehow activate a tractor to roll up to the fence, life the scoop, climb it and jump over into the Yard where the other half or so of the game takes place. And on that side of the yard there is a fallen tree or something you can climb to get back to the Construction side, until you can teleport.

- Definitely more insects, especially bosses, especially weird sciency bosses. I was really expecting Schmector to be a head attached to his own version of a Mant, except it's like a Scorpion or maybe even the Lizard.

- Indoor area of course, and with a Fish Tank, maybe a saltwater one just so you get another variety of creatures that wouldn't normally be in a yard. And for the hell of it, Sea Monkeys!

- Bigger threats, like there were tadpoles but no frogs? Bring in some small frogs. Bring in some mice as stated. Maybe one of the big creatures that you can't fight could actually pose a threat, like occasionally a Cat will come into the yard and hunt you and you have to hide until it goes back into the house or whatever. Or Raccoon or Possum, etc.

- If there is a "true" final boss, make it harder to find with a more legit "dungeon" and a boss fight that feels much more unique.

- Yes, more variety of biomes. Grounded had a few with the sandbox desert, the spilled BBQ and the "forest" being the rest of the yard, with upper yard I guess being a Jungle, the pond etc - but there should be more, and they should look way more distinct than the for example the Lower Yard vs Upper Yard. Sunflower patch would be kind of cool, like redwoods or something. An outdoor/patio kitchen which has a chest freezer you might have to get into for something (not sure what creatures would be in it though, maybe something that exists there via science).

- I still think there should be rain, and it should be something of an event. It should damage structures and you have to repair them, mostly the roofs, to avoid interiors being destroyed. But they should be massive drops similar to the Juice and Water drops you can knock off grass/fall from the boxes, only massively numerous and can create floods via runoff which dwindle after the rain ends (absorbed into the dirt or whatever) as well as creating puddles in various parts of the yard which also, over a few days, lose depth and dry up back to normal. Dynamic and difficult to make I imagine but with some care put into the composition of the yard(s) it shouldn't be too crazy of an issue as an event which repeats on occasion.

That's basically what I'd want to see. Bigger, more, worthy exploration, worthy events and a worthy true final boss. Everything else like more RPG mechanics, I'd be fine with or without.
