Our universe will be a frighteningly empty and bleak place in a Googol years.
The universe will die. Eventually it will become nothing. In roughly a quadrillion years, a last star will give its last twinkle, and black holes will devour everything before they completely evaporate.
That's the last era of the universe, the dark era, which will look eerily like the early days of the universe. And in a googol years (that’s 10 to the hundredth power, which is a lot), the universe will be empty.
The end may not be the end, either. And even though the universe will eventually be gone, that doesn’t mean it will be the complete end.
