TAIWAN food diaries🧋🍜 🍢 (night market, soup dumplings, beef noodle soup)

Surprise! I’m back in Taiwan!!! This was a last minute trip back to Taiwan due to a family emergency, but we are cherishing every moment together and creating special memories. Even though I was born and raised in Taiwan, every time I come back I fall in love with Taiwan even more.

The best part of Taiwan is the endless amount of delicious food you can find at any time of the day. I am back in Taiwan for a full month with my family, and I am so excited to bring you around my hometown, so here is everything I ate in my first week back in Taiwan!

The first thing we do whenever we land in Taiwan is to go to the day market and go eat Mi Gan. We picked up some fresh ingredients from the market and grocery store and enjoyed dinner at home for our first day back.

The next day we picked up some black pepper breakfast wraps and headed to Da Xi. Da Xi is known for the wood carvings, beautiful views, and delicious food. We enjoyed some savoury tangyuan for lunch and had Tofu Pudding and Ice Cream Burrito for dessert. After stuffing our bellies with yummy food for a whole day, we had dinner at home again and ended the night with some of my favourite fruit and snacks.

We decided to head to Taipei for a short getaway and tried out a soup dumpling restaurant by our house. For lunch we visited Wang’s Broth in Wanhua District which has been awarded with multiple Michelin Stars. We explored XiMenDing and ended the night with some bento boxes that was so good I wanted to go back for seconds.

The next day we went to a restaurant that I have been DREAMING about since the last time I was in Taiwan. This restaurant features the most delicious and rich golden chicken broth which takes over 12 hours to make. We all rated this 10/10 and I can not wait to go back again.

Raohe Night Market is the ultimate food heaven. Right when you enter there is a Michelin awarded black pepper bun that I always make sure to pick up at the start and end of the night. Everywhere you look, there is something for you to try, from mung bean jello, mini dorayaki pancakes, fresh fruit and juices, one of my personal favourites, freshly grilled king oyster mushroom, and endless amounts of yummy drinks and desserts! This night market alone features 6 Michelan awarded food stalls. If you visit Taiwan you have to visit their night markets, it is truly life changing.

After 15,000 steps and a full belly, we went home and slept in until noon the next day. We decided to check out a Beef Noodle restaurant that my dad used to frequent. Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup is a signature dish you have to try when you are in Taiwan. It is like a warm hug in a bowl with chewy noodles, tender chunks of beef, and savoury broth.

While I am in Taiwan, I will be taking a little time off to spend time with my family, but I will be vlogging throughout my trip. Let me know what else you want to see while I am here in Taiwan! Love you all so much, and see you next time!

I'm only on the first restaurant but I MUST say something: that soup looks so divine that if I ate it I'd immediately transcend into another dimension omg I LOVE any Asian noodle soup dish. Any and all, I am in. I'm eating a late breakfast now, and it's delicious, but a bowl of that soup would surely revive me lol
also, as someone who lives in Canada you probably relate to the struggle of not getting good quality produce... I am LIVING for that variety and how beautiful it all is
