Hurricane Lee powerful Category 3 major

Hurricane Lee remains a powerful Category 3 major hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean. The storm is located about 400 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.

Lee maxed out at Category 5 intensity Friday with winds of 165 mph. This makes it the strongest hurricane of the 2023 season so far. Fluctuations in intensity is common with hurricanes and tropical storms, in this case due to increased wind shear interrupting the storm's center.

On the Saffir Simpson hurricane wind scale, a major hurricane is a hurricane with winds of at least 111 mph, which is equivalent to Category 3 or higher.

With the storm's track towards the north and west, our team continues to closely monitor the storm's long-term path over the week ahead.

The good news is Lee is still far away from land and there's not yet any long-term guidance that indicates the storm will make landfall in the Carolinas, but it's still something to monitor, according to WCNC Charlotte Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich.

This is the first station I've watched so far to tell a more plausible outcome for this storm instead of sensationalizing it.

As always though, be prepared regardless.

So they know nothing more than they knew a week ago. So helpful.

Don’t understand how they’re so confident it isn’t going to hit NYC

I knew days ago there was no chance of it hitting the East coast at all, let alone the Carolinas because it’s tracking too far to the north of every single one of the Caribbean islands.

If you see a hurricane hit Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic or the Virgin Islands, then pay attention, if it goes north of them all, then there’s likely nothing to worry about.

The noosphere technology is used to create hurricanes using electromagnetic energy.

LOL, it's dying and they keep trying to talk it up. Gotta keep the scare on and keep people watching to sell ads.

If it's not going to hit land then why keep talking about? At that point it's just rain over the ocean witch happens all the time with no one taking about it.

Noticing less channels following this storm. Must be staying at sea?

As we all know that it slows down before even makes it to which most likely will be a tropical storm

It’s not going to make landfall…I guess we’ll ignore the Bermudas or Somers Isles.
