Finding Rare Mining Equipment in a Massive Abandoned Mine in Nevada (Part 3)

Part 3 opens with a sketchy 300-foot climb up a steep ladder in this abandoned mine. Once on the upper level, we continued exploring the Polaris Mine by making our way through endless drift tunnels and stopes where we had to cross dangerous bridges with substantial drops underneath them. We also saw some stunning, amazing deposits of copper in one area of the mine. We also found another ore cart still on the tracks in one of the drifts. Eventually we found an exit that put us 600 feet above the portal through which we entered the Polaris Mine in Part 1.

If you missed all the adventures in Part 1 and Part 2, they can be found at the following links. They feature lots of amazing artifacts including a full-sized drill, vintage ore carts, fascinating and risqué miners’ graffiti, and much more!

When you're watching Temple of Doom and you think that's a pretty unrealistic mine. And then you see a place like this, whoaza!

Finding ore cars are definitely the icing on the cake. I swear you guys were on a level roller coaster ride: so many twists and turns! Loved the mineral colors.

This mine was quite the adventure! It had just about everything in there- historic graffiti, elaborate timbering, unique mineral deposits, vintage mining equipment, accessible ladders, and miles of underground workings! I'm glad we all got to experience this one, Frank!

Your courage to explore an abandoned mine in Nevada that used to be the Polaris zinc mine is amazing! I was nervous watching this video so I could pause and watch it with a glass of wine! I don't know where your curiosity ends! I respect you for taking the risk and making this video!

It is a bit of a miracle that they went across those sketchy bridges with a loaded ore car. Thanks again for a very nice explore Frank.

All I can say is, WOW, Frank, this really was a superb exploration, and you mentioned that you only saw about 10% of the workings? This mine must be absolutely huge! It’s a shame the lower levels are flooded, I’d guess there’s a lot of lost graffiti and equipment.
Thanks for sharing Frank, this really was an awesome exploration! Stay safe.

Thank you for bringing us this fascinating insight into how far this mine went and it's multiple levels. It is certainly quite well preserved inside bearing in mind it's age and long life in production. The colours in it are very impressive too. The bridge over the pit of death sounds something like an attraction on a ghost train ride in a fairground!
