On 17 november 1988 the netherlands received internet (though on a limited scale) and is now 35 years.

I had access to the internet in Hungary in 1988. It is true that the access was via a single T1 line (1, 544 kbits/sec, extremely fast for the time) from Vienna to the institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. I had a part-time moonlighting job in one of these with a colleague and friend managing the internal network. Via that network the institute researchers had access to email, ftp, news groups, and gopher ... the WWW did not exist yet.

And that also invalidates the map for Austria as well.
