Great set! I’m a big huge longtime fan (the cheering kind; not the breezy kind) and I’m so excited to see Jackie on LLSWJC! She has a gift for making difficult topics relatable, easier to understand and funny! She’s a gem. WHY she’s not famous-famous yet simply eludes me. I’ve met her once but I’ve seen her a buncha times. Go see her live when you can. She’s a lot of fun and super friendly.

Saw Kashian in Ann Arbor and she was uproariously funny and kind and warm and raunchy in the best way. Then last night in the same room I saw a prominent NYC comic who made me never want to see anyone tell jokes again, just nasty classist trash. I will get over it, but my point is that Jackie is a rare diamond, a treasure to be cherished and supported. So few in the scene are not only as thoughtful in their material but so clearly generous and inclusive with their opportunities and their space in the field (from many anecdotes told by others). If there were any musicians like her I might hold out hope for that art form in America. As it is I will lick my wounds, wait for Jackie or one of her friends to come back to town, and consider the fine distinctions between a good piece of jibjab and words as weapons. Thanks for that set those months ago, Jackie, cuz right now that memory is keeping me from throwing my hands up about the form.
