We loved the Skoda Octavia RS, but if you need something a little more sedate and easy going, the entry-level 2022 Skoda Octavia could be the best option. Paul Maric gets behind the wheel to see if it's any good.

This was a comprehensive review Paul . You have a wonderful habit of mentioning the faults in a sweet way . Even the manufacturers will be happy to admit their mistakes after your review . Great video editing and content as well !!

I have the 2014 Octavia RS wagon DSG petrol. It's 7 years old now with about 120k on the clock. It's been completely reliable and can't really fault anything on it. Love the DSG, contrary to a lot of aussie reviewers. As nice as the new Octavia is, it's a not big enough leap ahead to make me trade up. Unless there was an electric one.

This thing has a ton of features for being a base model! Wish we had Skoda here in the states.

Yet another great Skoda, We have a 2015 Yeti 92TSI which has been great, so versatile and the infotainment leaves our 2015 Touareg for dead, when the time comes to replace the Yeti we will go for a Karoq with the 1.4 and 8 speed auto combo

Have had a Superb and Octavia. Such underrated cars. Hope my Kodiaq Sportline arrives before the February ETA!

A relative bought an Octavia about a decade ago. Looks almost identical (however with conventional boot). His model has 201hp (in the old imperial). Rode in it tonight and this vehicle was exceptionally quiet. This car also had impressive acceleration. His Octavia is still as tight as a drum and could have been bought last week. Hard to realise that Skoda is part of the VW Group. I normally steer clear of VW given their scandals and hold to Hyundai Kia. However. This is one sedan that I would actually seriously consider buying. [a very impressed consumer] and thanks Paul. Really enjoy your thorough and comprehensive, sensible reviews including Skoda's latest Octavia.

I've got a 2017 sport version, and it's been a great car for me. The amount of gear I can fit in the boot with the seats down is incredible. Would recommend to anyone to check out Skoda when car shopping.

I have 2014 Octavia Ambition Plus 1.4L. Still runs like new. I have done 160k in the last 7 years. I haven't had even a single issue.
Best part about my car is fuel economy. I am getting 4.2l on the highway and 6l in the city.

I recently sold my Skoda Octavia 2007 diesel wagon with the DSG 6 speed. I had it for 10 years and it provided me pretty much faultless motoring, with the only significant expense being a new aircon compressor for $1, 000. It was still trucking along with over 256, 000 kms on it and still averaging over 900 kms per tank (roughly 5.5 - 6 litres per 100km).
I would certainly recommend a Skoda sedan or wagon; excellent value as everyone wants an SUV these days.

Nice to see videos on entry level cars and not just high end versions. Very informative and a great insight in a car I’ve been looking at.

We have an oold Octavia TDI 1.9l - 2009 - automatic - 250000 km - not a ton of issues - needed to replace the ac compressor and the fuel tank. The argument for keeping it maybe for another year is really that it's swift & it's simply powerful. I had friends who bought 10y old octavias and what I witnessed is that they last well over 200k kilometers. It's simply a non-douchy practical work-horse.

Thank you for your reviews.
I have a 2013 Octavia RS Liftback which I bought at 8 months old and 7, 000km. Now approaching 160, 000km.
Had some aircon fan issues at one stage, but overall a great 2.2ltr turbo diesel car with good acceleration, wonderful handling and fuel economy around 5.3 litres/100km.
I also love the sedan shape in a liftback, so no chopped off tail that's so typical of most hatchbacks.

I’ve had Octavia’s in the past, always been great cars, my brother has a 2017 Octavia Scout. I’ve just bought the new 2022 Octavia Style wagon which is the next one up from the base model in this video, it adds all the missing stuff tech etc. Absolutely LOVE it! it’s very comfortable, handles well, and is amazing on fuel especially after having a suv that drinks like a fish. I highly remember getting rid of your suv and getting a Octavia wagon.

Nice review. The wagon version is currently top of our list to replace our 2016 Golf Highline wagon. Mind you, it's a very short list - either the Octavia or the Golf 8!

Good one Paul. I like the car mainly for the drive and comfort aspects. It would suit me.
