Making Bio Char

Показать описание
In this installment of the Living Mountain Lab (previously known as “Knowledge Park”) video series, we explore the benefits of bio-char for farmers and demonstrate a simple method to prepare it.
Bio-char, a carbon-rich byproduct from biomass pyrolysis (a similar process to charring), carries transformative potential for smallholder farmers and ecosystems in the Hindukush Himalaya region. By enriching soil fertility, boosting crop yields, and promoting water retention, bio-char can bolster agricultural resilience in these high-altitude, fragile landscapes. Furthermore, it aids in mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon, creating a win-win for farmers and the environment.
