BIOCHAR - Building homes for soil microbes

Показать описание
Biochar is any type of organic material that has been through a process called Pyrolysis. That’s a Greek word. Pyro means fire, and lysis means separation.

Biochar is simply decomposing materials at high temperatures . Everything turns into gas…except the carbon. After pyrolysis, there is no nitrogen, no magnesium, no sulphur. No nothing except carbon. A carbon skeleton of what it was.

I hope it helps your garden

Thank you for your post. I make Biochar by heating my home. I make a hot fire and then take the red hot coals and put them in my metal bucket . The coals float to the top.. my house is warm and lots of Great Biochar .😎🇺🇸😎

Back in Byrril Creek, We used Bamboo. Some of our neighbours, had overgrown bamboo. We would "get rid" of It for them for free and get a lot of material. Then Same process as yours. Crush it like we Pound Yam back in West Africa, a whole work out 😂.
Put in the chicken coop, compost, Korean Farming prep, vermicompost. We even tried in the biodynamic prep.
Everybody was happy AF.

OH, MY GOODNESS! How I wish was 70 years younger to once again do all these wonderful things to God's now depleted soil, thanks to our human interference! But even now, dear Weedy Gardener, with your lovely feet flat on Gods earth, and your beautiful smile and shiny laughing eyes, even now, as a 73 year old long lost farmgirl, now in a retirement village, you have inspired me!
I will attack this dreadful Perth sand, and create a bustling metropolis of biochar high rise dwellings for each and every little soil microbe to delight in! And then, just like the little farmgirl with cow-dung between my toes and hands in the rich South African soil, sowing and planting every possible vegetable seed I could find, - I might just find, once again, that joy and 'fullfilledness' of a fabulous, fruitful, fragrant, fertile and free growing vegetable patch, full of true flavoured and deeply hued veggies of every shape and taste and size in happy abundance!
You are the only husband I would ever choose for my beloved soil loving daughter!
You do make my heart sing, and my soul dance!
THANK YOU!!

I just discovered this video, and it's exactly what I was looking for. So many gardening videos show "how to use biochar" and assure me that "it's easy to make - just burn wood without oxygen". But this video takes us through an actual hands-on demonstration. Thank you for being both informative and realistic/pragmatic.
