How to play BOSSA NOVA Guitar - The Basics

In this video I’m going through the basics of Bossa nova with a full tab on screen.
We’ll get started learning a basic chord progression in C major:
C6/9 D9 Dm9 Db9 C6/9 learning the shapes and the harmonic analysis (I, II7, IIm7, sub V, I).

The 6/9, m9 and dominant 9 chords are very popular in Brazilian music.

Then we’ll see the basics of the rhythm on the right hand: 2/4 time signature, mirroring pattern with the bass alternating between the root note and the 5th of the chord, the bass on the downbeats and the typical bossa nova syncopation.

After that, we’ll see some variations and other cliches of Brazilian music with a little introduction to 16th note anticipations and samba top string voicing.

Thx for your response. My question was poorly worded I think. I would like to add additional chord progressions to this one in order to maybe make up a tune. I’m just not sure what chords to go to to complement this. I love Bossa Nova and appreciate your lessons. They are fabulous. Thx for any ideas.
