For all the years of work put into developing HBM, it was only used twice for AMD, Fiji and Vega then back to GDDR. Not exactly the gamechanger they thought it was going to be.

I think I'll be rooting for AMD starting from now on. I have a feeling that Freesync and Vulkan API along with Open Source are the next revolutionary technologies or methods that will provide the best technical advantages over conventional advantages

I think that "technical advantages" have more passion and professionalism kind of quality in them, over "traditional advantages" that are lead by marketing results, non-competitive behaviour (almost to the point of "anti-competitive"), and something that's heading more towards aesthetics and "over-advertised" kinda thing

The element of financial/materialistic results is definitely needed in emerging technology in general, but there's this thing that I can't explain in words. I think the "balance" that I'm looking for is in AMD, for graphics cards at least. I'll see how it goes for CPUs now and then I might even completely convert to AMD soon. Anyways, hopefully, things go the right way

I used to say keep buying high bit memory cards and i never bought anything less than a 256bit but damn from that to 4000+bit...its simple crazy. The designers can create now some small cool cards and not use monsters. I will buy a card with that memory for sure.
Maybe they did it with Samsung they are the ones made the first ssd flash memory with 3d in evo5

lol even with the hbm the 980 has a lower power draw then the fury X and fury
