What are some of your favorite things about Trey's playing?

When I first discovered Phish over 30 years ago, what most amazed me was his crescendo/decrescendo playing. Of course the Dead did that as well but in my opinion were a bit more amorphous. Phish and Trey could always bring you to these epic peaks again and again and then bring you back down comfortably. The only new band I think that really does it closely is Goose/Rick.

Trey is a great guitar player. He has his own original thing going. Great guy also.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that you had the WENT GIN playing in the background at the start/end of the video. Love it!!!

Trey is my favorite player still around. He has so many skills that a video like this would be super difficult to get right, but yours, as usual, was spot on and delivered concepts of his playing that can be studied for a lifetime. Thank you for yet another great, light, goodvibe-full video, Jeff! Love the channel!

Love the sloppy on purpose!!! So creative the really great Bowie's or any great stash especially the Mansfield show from live one. Just amazing tension, and spot on with how he developed so quick he just oozes creativity because he didn't pick up guitar until junior year high school and started phish first thing in college. Just had insane ear. Great video !!👍

I like this video series. Maybe Bob weir is next?
Also great insights on Trey’s playing. I feel like you could do a whole series on his rhythm. In some ways, even when he’s soloing during the jam section, it still has a rhythmic feel to it

❤️ the map/jam analogy, where there’s definitely a destination …But w/Phish, Just how ya get there is Anybody’s guess!!❤️

Great video. Which show/song is on in the background at the end of the video. That jam is on the tip of my tongue and can’t recall it for the life of me. Thanks! 🙏

I just got a T-shirt off of Ebay a few weeks ago that says, "TREY IS A JEDI!!!"
Nuff said!

I don’t get why ppl used to call Trey a ripoff of Jerry. I hear that influence but after listening to Phish, the dead & Trey’s solo stuff I can say that Trey stands on his own. Funny thing is I didn’t like either of those acts until I started getting into playing guitar more
