Every Dutch family with a baby has this! (Not common in America)

In America, people use something like this for babies, but not quite this. The Dutch box looks like a crib, but is actually more of a play pen! And when I say every Dutch family with a baby has this, I mean literally almost every family. It's almost making a statement to not get one. Just one of the many cultural things I've learned on my journey to becoming a new parent!

Also make sure you keep adjusting the height else the child will realize it can stand up holding the bars and try to climb out before falling to the floor.

The individual Dutch words you include in your videos are so spot on, you must be very fluently in Dutch!

Wait. What do you do with your baby in the states if you don’t use a box?

Our son was two when he threw all of his plushies out of his box, and managed to climb out of the box. He landed head first, a straight head dive into the mountain of plushies. We were a little busy with reorganising stuff in our new home at the time.
The second time he didn’t throw his plushies out and then proceeded to dive bomb his head to the floor. 😅
He’s ok but he was crying.

Yes! I have a five month old, he didn't like the box until he was around 2 months. Now he loves it. And we love it to because we can put the baby in there to go to the bathroom without having to take the baby with us😂

I'm American and in shock. We had these 'playpens' when I grew up in New York State. They were common household items for families. What happened?!

Also a great way for a baby when it's getting a little older to exercise things like standing and getting grip with fingers

FYI The plant in the background is a Dieffenbachia and is VERY poisonous.
Leaves can drop etc. Scary thought.

We had one with castor wheels (and brakes) and two baskets for all the toys. Best buy ever. What's so nice about these small children's items: good quality products can easily be sold when your kid is getting older! Btw, your "boks" was really good!

It’s a playpen in English for baby to up to 2 years old

In french it's a parc. You know a parc where you can play in. And or a place to retain the baby. Usually up the 1.5-2 years. When they climb out

With a little modification you can use it as a Skinner box.

I mean it is pretty similar to a play pen.

I spend like the first 2 years of me live In that thing. Me parents sat it up infront of the window, and i played in it, napped in it. And i apparently was a hit with the neighbours cus I always waved at them

Oh god I hated those things when I was a baby 15 years ago.

I'm Dutch and I have two kids but never owned a boks. I don't like them. Most of my friends had one and their kids seemed to enjoy them though.

I had one, but both of my sons didn’t like it at all, so I hardly used it. Only as storage for toys

Just a small service announcement: A baby nest is a suffocation risk. Just like bed bumpers are. They are not illegal to sell, but they do go against safety recommendations. Love the box though. For my children it was their safe space that was just theirs.
