When I was teaching Intro to CS to the 1st year grad class, I skipped all these outdated topics and taught them new ones like Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligene etc. It is truly laughable how these ridiculous topics are still being taught in schoo.

As an IT student, I can relate, they are still teaching basic language that was developed in 1964

This was an amazing representation of our high school education
luckily my teacher wasn't like this. He gave us good concepts and told us the actual applications of computer.
Because he was a true programmer himself and also a freelancer at that time.

As an electrical engineer, I can tell u we learnt "advanced" micro controllers on an MCU unit called 8052. An uncle of mine graduated as an electronics engineer in 1982, and he had practiced on the same unit that we were taught about.

As a computer teacher, I can feel it bro . We try to relate these topics to their real life experiences and give students more knowledge than books. Because their text books still have floppy disk, monitor, keyboard even in 9th standard.
