William Owens, Waco ISD composer-in-residence

Fort Worth-based composer and band clinician William Owens was in Waco this week as Waco Independent School District’s composer-in-residence, working with local student musicians.

Waco audiences will get to hear his latest story Friday night when the district’s high school and middle school players debut Owens’ commissioned work “Huaco!” as a highlight of a concert featuring Owens’ compositions.

That free concert, at 6 p.m. Friday at University High School, will feature players from the Waco secondary school bands plus an honor band selected from those bands.
