Jeez many of these explanations are a bit flawed. I think it would be better if you didn't try to ad lib your explanation. There is nothing wrong with writing yourself a script. You would get a more concise explanation of the idiom, and a more accurate one.

You keep on saying "going the extra mile" and "under the radar" and so on don't mean the physical thing, but they actually do, and that's the best way to understand them. They are just used as metaphors. You would have been better off explaining what a plane under the radar actually is, and then explaining briefly the phrase's use as an idiom. Ahead of the curve of course, has nothing to do with traffic, but instead refers to mathematical graphs, so your comment there was just misleading. I didn't watch the rest.
