In general, I really do like this. For the most part, it is sorta-kinda "plug & play" (as Reef's claims)...but, not entirely. As you are doing, not a lot of people will really want to run a separate battery to power the BEC. They'll want to power out from the same battery powering the ESC. Plus, even if a person is willing to power it from it's own battery, they have to purchase batteries with a specific connector, which also means needing to purchase another charging lead.

Personally, I prefer having the BEC hardwired to the connector that also powers the ESC. One thing that keeps me leaning towards the Castle BECs is that the are programmable...this one isn't.

So I could use a 3 or 4s 5k mah battery to power just my servo through the receiver and take my esc bec back to stock settings?

If all the grounds are common (all tied together) there should not be any problems, as long as the hots are not common, high voltage for servo and low for receiver.

I’d buy this but I already have a 8.4 micro Bec from NSDRC, and the form factor is hella tiny. It works perfectly with 1/10 servos.

Joe, on the FP you are using did you change plugs on the EZ Bec just to avoid using Reefs XT60 harness? Did you have to change anything on the FP receiver plug? I have a FP and would like my Smart 900 to run at 8.4v instead of FP built in 7.4v limit.

For the cost of the BEC I would just go with a direct powered servo, $50.00 is a lot on top of the cost of the servo.

Nice! Do they make different voltages? I am slowly going through a build where I have opposite problem: I will have 7.4 volts from esc to servos and receiver, but I want another circuit with 6 volts for sound, lights and such.
