Ursula von der Leyen wins second term as European Commission president | DW News

Ursula von der Leyen has secured a second term as president of the European Commmission - the EU's executive administration. The European Parliament re-elected Von der Leyen for another 5 year term with a comfortable majority. She gained 401 of the 707 votes cast. Her election ensures continuity of leadership.

I'm a bit confused. Von Der Leyen is part of the E.P.P. (European People's Party) which self identifies as a center right party. Which principles does she have that can be considered to be right wing? Hearing this, she seems more like a member of renew europe.

How does this lower inflation? How does this help the real civilian economy? How does this help Europe genuinely compete against China & growing industrial bases?

The root problems of high energy costs & lagging technology have not been solved. Shouldn't those be tackled first to bring down the overall defence bill?
