Iceberg calving is a critical process in representing the mass balance of the Greenland Ice Sheet, but current models generally rely on simple prescriptions - owing to the difficulties in obtaining quantitative observations and in the complexity of pairing such processes with numerical ice flow models. Here, we seek the perspective of ice sheet modelers in understanding the difficulties and available options for numerically representing iceberg calving.
