I love how dark and minimal this album is. It squeezes a ton of ominous harshness out of some really simple classic synths through just the choice of chords, tones, and pacing. It conveys so much with so little in a way that's very, very Black Metal. The amateur quality of the musicianship is also quite refreshing in a bedroom-pop kind of way, and compared to the sequencer-driven music of nowadays this recording feels very personal. Taken together with the spooky atmosphere of the songs, the intimate nature of this album really drives home the feeling of being a captive audience to a Black Mass or a serial killer who is serenading you before making you their next victim. Be sure to tell them how beautiful you think their music is, in the hopes that just maybe you will make it through the night alive...
