Bought a Haibike with the Bosch system and chipped it to remove the 25km assist limit. I can get a range of 100km out of the standard battery and can have assistance up to 60km+ per hour. The challenge with these bikes is the limit....totally counter intuitive to have a max speed of 25km when we all need it assistance above that. That just makes it a heavy road bike

All the negative comments come from those who never tried an ebike. Your simply ignorant to the rise of the ebike. They are the next BIG DEAL. I have both a road bike and a road ebike. Both are amazing and I ride both. The ebike simply goes faster but you will work your ass off. Unless you amp up the assist and take it easy. It’s up to you. Is a Porsche 911 called a cheater car because of its power? No fricken way. Consider the ebike a faster more powerful machine ( Porsche like)and believe me the speed is incredibly exciting and addicting. I ride my non ebike with the purists so we are on equal ground. But honestly, for pure excitement, I prefer my ebike. Ebikes are here to stay!

Nice review but what about the lack of serious suspension and the low torque ? It 'd have been very interested to see a test on road, and steep ones (15-40%) with the strongest assistance (60 Nm). Not sure that results are performing with such a low torque (but surely enough for an athletic biker).

Here in the USA many states are looking at regulations for motor vehicles being applied to e-bikes. It will be curious to see how that plays out.

I can see the benefits of an E-bike if you have a specific role in mind, like commuting with some gear you have to lug to work or some sort of cargo, like shopping or light deliveries.

The problem with that is, where I live, bicycle infrastructure is pretty poor and you have to ride on busy roads in the car traffic, so there are better solutions for that type of thing, scooters etc. I know some Euro cities have been great at building dedicated cycling infrastructure, but they're the minority as far as I can tell.

I ride primarily for fitness, so an e-bike is really not necessary for my needs, as it simply defeats the purpose.

I think the e-bike thing is a fad will eventually sink into oblivion due to these reasons, there are better, and safer, ways to do what they can do, and there is no need for them for general fitness riding.

I can see them morphing into lightweight motorcycles that can keep up with traffic, when battery tech evolves.

Grande bici solo che la batteria dura poco ci vorrebbe una batteria almeno 500 wat

Ghastly. e-bikes should best serve city or mountain bikes.

Why the hell is road.cc supporting this ridiculous 'trend', E-bikes belong to people who can't cycle ffs.
