When I was 10 years old, I would visit my great-grandmother every week, and we would watch Spongebob and eat junk food all afternoon. She passed away several years ago, and this has become one of my favorite childhood memories.

When they announced Stephen Hillenberg died, I was heartbroken. I grew up loving Spongebob and I have no one to thank except for Stephen Hillenberg. He was responsible for a big part of my childhood and I respect him for that.

Rest In Peace and thanks for the creation of one of the greatest cartoons of all time. ♥️

There was actually an episode of Spongebob called "Krusty Sponge". The episode accurately portrays what Nickelodeon is doing with Spongebob.

I found it really disrespectful that they announced a spin-off a few months after Hillenburg's passing. Nickelodeon is literally giving the middle finger to a dead man that made most of their money in the first place.

Nickelodeon didn’t ruin this show. They SOILED it. Stephen wanted to make a show that everyone all ages could enjoy, but one quote he said was: “Hopefully, if you watch SpongeBob, you see plankton and crabs and starfish — and you’ll want to take care of our oceans.” He made this show for everyone to discover marine-life is like everyone’s environment. And to help our ecosystem.
