Vienna Explained - episode 1: What pisses people off in Vienna?

Vienna can be a big and confusing place (Hmmm, not really, but for the sake of the story) so an Austrian (the sickeningly handsome Michi Buchinger) and a random Australian have set out to understand why things are the way they are in the old city where Habsburgs once walked, and the Käsekrainer was invented.

In the first episodes, we'll look at what pisses people off in Vienna, and why. For example, riding your bike on the pedestrian path – that really pisses them off!

About us Viennese being more vocal about the things we dislike...I guess it depends on the comparison.  
Compared to the other 8 provinces of Austria, we are definitely considered the "Germans" of Austria (more in the "Piefke" sense:-), much beloved for our sensitive and humble communication style (s/o: there is even an phrase unbeknownst to most Viennese: du wienerst mich an/ roughly: you piss me off like a wiener;-). Same goes for our Central European neighbours, who have mixed memories about being subjected to the often harsh Habsburger rule.
Irish and English expats in Vienna seam also not to be very impressed by our grumpy manners.

BUT: especially for Germans and most Northern European countries, for Russian, Indians and even most U.S. citizens ("Viennese are unclear, but rude") Austrians including Viennese are known to be very high context and can therefore come across as:
- unclear (wischiwaschi, the Viennese"Jein or Jain" with everything in-between),  
- prone to sugarcoating ("schasfreundlich") 
- and backstabbing ("ja eh" can mean depending on context: "off course, that should goes without saying (so why do you ask?)" or "DEFINITELY not, but I can't be bothered with having to explain why or even argue with you I say yes (-ish)/"passt schon", but my actions will speak louder than words🙂.
