Project: Example using a RTC to wake-up an Arduino Data Logger

preview_player
Показать описание
This project is to give a practical example of using power save modes with Arduino's. It uses a Real Time Clock (RTC) to wake up an Arduino Data Logger. It write the temperature and humidity in a room to a micro SD card. It can be run of a battery pack.

This video is to show how much power the project draws and how to integrate a NPN transistor to isolate components to even save more power

Thanks for the blogpost, it was really helpful! I'm currently building a solar powered automated watering system with an attached data logger, so power saving is a real priority. I'll use your approach almost identically, 3ma sleep current is amazing :)

Hi, thanks for the tutorial and blog. I have a power consumption on the pro mini of 3mA, but when using the DS3231 the consumption is 9mA. Is there a way to get the DS3231 to operate on its coin cell battery and still keep track of the alarms? Or how can I reduce the power draw? Also my Pro mini and DS3231 both have a Power LED. should I remove those?
