Vince Gill is so versatile, and he is a master of the guitar too. This is a song by The Beach Boys, as originally sung by their lead singer, Brian Wilson. Vince is a country music icon, and has always had a flair for bluegrass. For the last several years, he has been singing with The Eagles. Check out Vince’s song “Go Rest High On That Mountain” live at George Jones’ funeral, and him singing “Take It To The Limit” live with The Eagles. While you’re at it, you should listen to the original Beach Boys version of “Warmth Of The Sun” and the live version of “Take It To The Limit” by The Eagles from 1976, with Randy Meisner singing lead. Meisner’s ending on that song is classic, and still blows me away every time I hear it. By the way, Brian Wilson wrote most of the Beach Boys’ songs and arranged the amazing harmonies for which they are known. He is considered to be one the very few absolute musical geniuses in all of popular music.

This song stopped me dead in my tracks in the middle of a Best Buy store where it was playing on about 20 simultaneous screens and literally brought me to tears. At that time, the DVD was only available from China - it took a while to track down and even longer to receive - but I've played it a bazillion times since. This never gets old. NEVER.

I loved this song by the Beach Boys, written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. But this version is every bit as good as the Beach Boy's original version. There are at least 2 versions on Beach Boys songs where the lead was sung by woman, ("I Can Hear Music" with Kathy Troccoli and "Don't Worry Baby" with Lorrie Morgan) I actually like those versions better than the originals. That's actually hard to admit, because I love the Beach Boys music. The richness of those women's voices on the high notes elevated the songs to a higher level. It would be interesting to see how Vince Gill would sound on "Warmth of the Sun" with the Beach Boys singing the backing vocals. Great review of a great voice. Please keep them coming Britt!

As stated, this is a Brian Wilson tribute. He wrote this song, and that is his band playing and singing behind Vince. You should now watch Vince and David Crosby sing "Surf's Up" from the same night. Then go check out Brian himself live performing "Heroes and Villains" and "Surf's Up", with this same band. Brian is a genius. He wrote many great ballads and rockers. Also, you just did "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. It was Brian's favorite song. So he wrote a reply song to Ronee, "Don't Worry Baby". Any old live videos of the Beach Boy's, Brian's early group, are mostly lip synced. Like the Ronettes. That was the 60's. They usually didn't allow live until the late 60's. Also why it is usually black & white. Love your reactions. You are so real. Love watching you learn new things. You are a great student!!!

Brit, listen beyond the melody. You’ll find it’s a very sad song of heartbreak and love lost. It reflects Brian Wilson’s (Beach Boys) Unrequited love for a girl in his early life. I remember dancing to this with my then squeeze, Pam, some 60 years ago. We reconnected at our 40th HS reunion (2009) and stayed in touch. Sadly, she passed in 2020. Listening to this cover by Vince Gill let me reminisce of those days. Now I play it often… makes me cry.

This song was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, of the Beach Boys, in response to the killing of President Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Brian Wilson was a founding member and lead song writer for the Beach Boys and was a huge influence on many in the music industry, and still is today.
