Just discovered today, that my less than 2 1/2 year old duo 2 is non-repairable, my battery is not lasting like it did, so tried opening a service & repair at Microsoft, and they no longer service the phone!, so I called them and they say they only replace phones, that they are non serviceable! and that they don't have units anymore! and I ask her so if I wanted a battery replacement how much would have cost me, and the lady says since its out of warranty the same as a new phone, but again we don't have stock. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS COMPANY! so much e-waste and such a loss, ($1700 !) a perfectly working phone, to the trash because they designed this device to not be repairable, you cant even find batteries anywhere!. Please bring this up to the attention of people!

I own a Surface Duo 2, and it's a great conversation piece. I daily drive it. And I can't imagine going to something else. Whenever I open my phone in front of someone, they always always ask, "What phone is that?"
I still remember in a flight one guy said something really nice after having a look at my phone "Why isn't everyone talking about this????"
I don't know what went wrong, Microsoft literally released two phones, and still people aren't aware.
The shortcomings of Duo 2 are there, but they are outweighed by the pros.
But like all even I soon will have to move on. There's no light that Microsoft will release one more Surface Phone, and I can't hold on to false hope. People have better hardware specs and software support, for now the sacrifice is worth it but for how long. I've been using Surface since Microsoft Surface RT, had used Windows Phone till it was killed. Maybe they will release it, but God knows only now.

I wonder why nobody points out three more main advantages and USPs of the Surface duo 2:
1. only 2 screens that protect each other is a plus! A 3rd screen only gets cracked with all my keys and stuff in the pocket.
2. foldable backwards(360). It stands firm on my table, bed or anywhere - only needing to power 1 screen. also in winter with gloves it hangs perfectly on my hand.
3. Native two separate screens. I need it for work. I don't need a big screen. I need two!
Cannot believe how bad MS manages its mobile products and its PR around that.

As a duo 1 and 2 as well as a pixel fold owner. The hardware on the duo one is fantastic. The other component is the duo software, no current foldable comes close to the multitasking ease of the DUO. If they came out with a duo 3 I would get one immediately even though their lack of support has been a disgrace. They nailed the form factor for sure.

I got a surface pro because I wanted something lighter than a laptop but with Windows. Love it.

I got a Duo 1 and 2 because I wanted my phone to be able to use the same pen. Fell in love with the pop tart size ratio, perfect to read books. Biggest thing missing is filling the crack between the two screens for video watching.

Sad. But I'm glad that companies are embracing the poptart ratio.

Oh what I would give for a timeline where Surface Duo stayed relevant and continued with the split screen design. I was flabbergasted when the entire market went with a single screen. I'm content with two fairly large screens to multitask, if i wanted a gigantic single screen I would just get a tablet or use a laptop.

In my opinion they could have done a duo 3 no bazels or a surface fold like a pixel fold with same physical size.

Great video. the problem with MS mobiles is they don't commit. They release a beta or even alpha (in the case of SD1) and then don't really invest in making it truly bug free, functional and full of features. At the opposite end I have Samsung Fold series which just keeps getting better and better. Switched from SD1 to Fold 3 and 2 years now I have never had an issue only new features improving the experience.
No matter what they present in future, I am not giving any more money to MS for a mobile.

The pixel fold weirdly didn’t open all the way it doesn’t lay flat when open. Microsoft soft first 2 attempts I’ll give them a 3 out of 5 stars. Like the design but the software and operating the device had some bugs. Excited about the Pixel Fold 2 the design looks refreshing

These foldables interest me but wouldn't be good considering my work environment. The inner screen would get wrecked in short order. For someone in cleaner, less mean environments, they'd be ok. I just think they're cost prohibitive. I also have seen a few reviewers ticked that Google released the Fold 2 with the Tensor G2 instead of the G3. They make some good points. The Surface? I don't trust Microsoft.
