Giant squids are the nightmares of every ocean tale, or so it may
seem. It’s one thing to be attacked by a shark, but the idea of a
giant squid wrapping its slimy tentacles around you and sucking
out your life force? Now that’s terrifying!

We actually caught one off the coast of Tasmania. They brought it into the courtyard of the Hobart Tasmania museum. There was a big crowd. I stood in line with my girlfriend. There was a big blonde guy sitting on top of the squid with his shirt off. He was smoking. I started smoking but was told that this was illegal. We go up to this smoking expert and I asked him what kind of giant squid it was. He was like...wtf? I say yes according to David Attenborough and Peter Beanchly this is not an Archintuthis Dux it's something else. Dux has a huge blade that lives inside of the suckers and fights sperm whales. I said so what is this? Hobart's squid expert said, "security"
So I never got that answer. But sitting upon a frozen giant squid he looked like Indiana Jones regards guy up until you asked him something. Well hired Tasmania museum!

The first squid is actually a very scary squid called a jumbo squid, Humboldt squid, or the "Red Devil". In short, they weigh about 100 pounds, grow to about 4-5 feet, and can shoot ink. Whats more, they can deal serious damage with their spiky tentacles, can bite off your finger with their beak, and are extremely assertive (they have killed people). They also can change the color of their skin from red to pink to white, which is what they use to communicate with others of their kind (they hunt/ live in groups of up to 1000). And the scariest part of all is that they will distract you, grab you (a couple at a time) and will drag you to the bottom of the ocean where they will proceed to eat you (or kill you and leave you alone). Have fun sleeping!

A lot of these deep sea squids are either only seen very deep or dead ones that wash up. So they don't know a lot about them

The first squid at the surf board was in it's final stage, dieing for some reason. As quite small as it is, probably about 3m, it's probably a juvenile giant squid. Adult Humboldt calamari look different. Maybe it was seriously sick, as one comment said "parasites"!!
When they run out of power and life-force they're often ascending to the surface and go near shallow water

That squid the diver went into the water with probably posed little threat as it was likely dying. Either old, or sick. A health giant is not likely to venture to the surface. I'd imagine the lack of pressure there doesn't do the animal much good either.

By the turn of the 21st century, the giant squid remained one of the few extant megafauna to have never been photographed alive, either in the wild or in captivity. Marine biologist and author Richard Ellis described it as "the most elusive image in natural history".[52][41]: 211  In 1993, an image purporting to show a diver with a live giant squid (identified as Architeuthis dux) was published in the book European Seashells.[53] However, the animal in this photograph was a sick or dying Onykia robusta, not a giant squid.[38][41]: 211  The first footage of live (larval) giant squid ever captured on film was in 2001.

Giant squid, South Island New Zealand, is a common place to find them, can remember reading about one that washed ashore intact, it was 132 feet long in total. If you don’t believe me, look it up.

at numerous points in this video you present hypothesis and theory as fact. I was enjoying it but, it got frustrating.

“Big fin squid”.. magnapinna, I believe. I saw some recent footage that shows they may be more aggressive hunters than previously believed.

The beak is made of Keratin, like a rhino horn and like your hair. It’s not made of “kyten” or whatever the guy said.
