How to install Google Nest Protect (Battery)

Nest Protect (Battery) is simple to install, but there are some things to plan for like where to place it. We'll walk you through the entire process of choosing a location for your Protect and give you some tips to make installation secure.

You'll learn how to install the battery version of Nest Protect.

After installation, press the button on your Nest Protect twice to test. It will check its sensors, power, Wi-Fi connection, emergency horn, speaker, and lights.

I rent and would like to install a co2 detector. Can I sit this on a shelf low for co2 only and keep my hard wired smoke detectors? I cannot drill holes into the wall nor can I afford to replace all 5 existing smoke detectors in a rental.

No offense, but the backplate is a horrendous design as far as trying to attach, or remove, the Protect unit. In fact, it flat out sucks. Reminds of a "contractor grade" backplate, that's hard as hell to locate the proper alignment of the tabs, and then twist in properly to secure. Not what I would have expected in "good design" from Silicon Valley. Elsewhere else, yes.

No the battery version does not connect up to the other ones, they will only connect up if your nest protects are wired 120v.

Worst product out there. Not reliable.. please for your safety go with another brand.
