I prefer the perfect balance between both. Too much comfort will make you lazy, but too much suffering can kill you. There are times when you need to rest and there times where you need to fight. That's how you truly grow.

The philosopher’s curse: Wish luxury upon your enemies.

This is so stupid

Suffering does not make one beautiful. A hobo on the street trying to make ends meet everyday, a third world kid that has no parents and has to get by by doing a life of crime until they can be old enough to work more legit is not "beautiful".

Even if these people become successful there is nothing majestic or beautiful about it, its just plain sad and humbling.

You are not alone man. We are all here fighting some battle. And in this way we are connected. Keep going!

Suffering is good as long as it has a purpose and meaning.

Im german and as the english transcriptions of Nietzsche already seem complex, you will never understand how uncomprehensible his texts are in german for a normal human being like me, its the most beautiful thing tho. So much meaning in just one sentence

The realization that a Shih Tzu is descendent of the Wolf is very disturbing, but it very clearly illustrates man’s fall from masculinity.

Too much suffering will break a person, there needs to be balance

I was once forced to endure extremely strenuous activity to the point of dehydration and the beginning stages of renal failure (my urine was dark like coffee). I had never suffered more in my whole life to that point, I had never been so thirsty in my whole life, I felt like I was about to die. Finally it was over and I could relax and drink water. When I took that first drink of water, while suffering, I realized for the first time what water truly tasted like. I still remember it to this day. It was just regular water, but when I drank it I finally realized what the ancient Greeks meant by "the nectar of the Gods" it was water, it's always been water, but you will never taste water as I tasted that day, the nectar of the gods can only be tasted when you have pushed your body further than 99% of humans ever will.

Nothing is guaranteed except for suffering and death. And sometimes the suffering is utterly pointless and cruel..just be careful

I think Nietzsche glorifies suffering instead of putting it in its proper place.

suffering is distasteful. whether you eventually become a better man from it, it will never feel good.

the children working in the lithium mines of Congo, the woman who is raped at some alley in Mumbai, the slave laborer at a construction site in the UAE, the people of Gaza bombarded every day are all suffering. But what benefit is their suffering? what Beauty are they going to acquire after their ordeal?

suffering should be put in its proper place. suffering for the sake of suffering is meaningless.

suffering is only worthwhile if it is meaning full and a lot of suffering in this world isn't

how does this great video have so few views?

in my personal experience, moments of great and continous stress and suffering have not only allowed me to mature emotionally, but have stories to tell and to subcontiously start being more confident in my ability to face challanges

This video made me emotional. It gave me an inspirational boost of confidence to push myself forward in an effort to break the shackles of a comfortable life. What does an easy life ever get you, but remorse and regret.

pretty great video brother. I'm struggling too as an artist, between what the world wants me to produce(life denial) and what God want's me to produce and what I know to be right(life affirmation). Producing hogwash the world wants is easy and comfy, but it's not the path to self actualization.

Brilliant video, young man. Striving for a life of meaning is more satisfying than striving for simple happiness.

Nietzsche explains in his Aphorism 864 of WTP that when the strong become weak, right after world wars, then nature, or as he names it "life", employs the mediocre to represent humanity ... how long? So long as the weak, who are maybe the offspring of the strong, do not perish. When the Schlechtweggekommenen are not anymore there, nature will eventually convert some of those mediocre into new warriors again. Because, if that offspring of the strong, the "children of flowers" (Woodstock) continue to dominate over the mediocre, then we all would perish. Imagine little children learning sex in ground school and how to use marijuana.

My parents want the easy life for me - to work adequately but not too hard, be respected in society but not to a level where it would breed jealously. They don't know how to act - scared to face someone with a higher social status than they do, acting like sheep with no self-respect. They don't want me to do things that would otherwise be considered iconoclastic even though they themselves admire great personalities who've shaped societies. I have not lived in their shoes - it may be easier to settle for the quiet life but somewhere within me just doesn't want that.

Suffering doesn’t result in anything good, it wouldn’t be suffering if it did, suffering is spending your life working on something and it never materializing, suffering is the experience of pain in the body, hurt, loss, etc. it does nothing good for you either, we don’t need to reason with our suffering and make excuses for it it does nothing good for you
