Pocahontas county, WV
Cranberry Glades are in WV
Literally no cell reception in the entire county
Universal sound is just nature and the sound of the world IMO

Tyler's got the mountains in his voice, but the reason I love him is his brilliant lyrics/songwriting. He writes 99% of his own stuff, addressing the modern issues and problems of Appalachia. It's jarring, it sucks you in, makes you think. He's just so dang honest, he bares his soul, and it's so compelling. That kind of authenticity and sincerity is hard to come by these days, in many genres, and when you hear it, you stop and listen. Try "Nose on the Grindstone", or "Feathered Indians" ( kinda a love song), or one he wrote about his buddy's grandma, who was a big figure in his life as well as the group of boys he grew up with, when she passed away, it's really beautiful, "I Will Follow You to Virgie". He sings it in that same set you showed here and gives all the backstory. More Tyler, he's a really interesting and genuine talent.

First song someone showed me was Feathered Indians. It's not my favorite now but I loved it when I first heard it, and made me listen to every song he had. Bottles & Bibles is great lyrically and my favorite is probably either Lady May, 22nd Winter, or Follow You To Virgie. I think they would like Nose To The Grindstone too.

Bars or charge is a cell phone. He's out in the country thinking of what connects us all, his 'religion' The universal sound.

Cranberry Glades — also known simply as The Glades — are a cluster of five small, boreal-type bogs in southwestern Pocahontas County, West Virginia, United States. This area, high in the Allegheny Mountains at about 3, 400 feet (1, 000 m), is protected as the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area, part of the Monongahela National Forest.

He wrote this song on a “trip” to the cranberry glades in Pocahontas county. The universal sound is the sound nature and the collective consciousness perceived in certain states of mind. It’s good to have time alone and reflect on life. This song is a product of that experience 🍄

Pocahontas is a national forest in pocahontas county WV. In the natl Forrest there is a place called the cranberry glades. Very beautiful. It's all wilderness. camping, fishing, hiking. No cell service and no charge on his phone anyways. The universal sound is everything around us. The sound of the world, wind, music, laughter and everything in between.

"Universe of sounds" = music. He's singing about the literal metaphor of what music is. Something we can all relate to no matter what genre we listen to. Music is peace for the soul. It's how we get our feelings, dreams and thoughts across.

To me the Universal Sound is just like the universe in general. Something that connects everyone and everything in nature. And also I kinda like the studio version. I usually like his live stuff, but this studio version is pretty good

Nose on the grindstone is the song to do by him! I was blown away when I heard it. It was when I discovered him.

So this was Tyler's first shot at this tune. He worked with Sturgill Simpson on this record and Sturgill actually recommended he slow the song down a bit for the studio version - that's the difference. The recorded one is actually more smooth and impact. I also HIGHLY recommend "Follow You to Virgie." It's about his best friend's grandmother. Brilliant tune.
