Past Sins Main Theme (Original Composition)

When I read this amazing MLP:FIM Fanfic, I just had to make a theme for it. After about two weeks, I've finally managed to make something I feel is worthy of Pen Stroke's story.

This is one of those stories where, once you finish it, you can hardly think about anything for the next few days except how amazing it was.

Past Sins showed me that fanfiction can be FAR more than simple, meaningless fanwank. It can be a wonderful story that's just set in a predetermined world, using characters we love and putting them through ordeals and trials that we won't see in the actual canon.

There is innocence, wonder, wistfulness, maybe a hint of distant tension.

It is just perfect.

I've listened to this while taking walks around my campus at night. I find walking to be a great stress/anxiety relief. This music sets the mood and helps to calm me. I take walks exclusively at night because there are fewer people out, and because I find the nights more peaceful and more conducive for alleviating my stress.

I've listened to this on my bed on days when classes were extra hard, and a walk wouldn't do it for me. I've laid down on a tear-stained pillow and had my earbuds in clear until morning on more than one occasion. These chords, these two little minutes of music, they mean so much more to me than the individual notes and rests.

I've shot comments back and forth with you before, and I've come to understand you've either cancelled this project or put it on indefinite hiatus. I'm not here to try to get you to start back up; that's still your call. I'm just here to let you know how much this masterpiece has influenced me.

This main theme does fit the main Past Sins story

But it somehow fits the Wimter Bells sequel story even more. Or maybe it just fits Nyx generally, Im not sure.

You have to love Past Sins.

Pen Stroke show me that if you work hard you can make a Fanfic that will be know by. I really love Past Sins. Before I reed it I didn't understand a certain video (Twilight×Nyx You'll be in my heart) at first I thought why are their three versions of Nyx. Then I read the book and it was amazing.

This fanfic is still the best thing I have ever read over all my favorite book series because unlike most other things I have read, it inspires quite a bit of emotion, which is hard for anything to do to me these days. I wish I could have a hardcover version.

I used to be a brony from around episode 5 in season one when I was first seeing images of ponies online to about the beginning of the third season. I remember when this was being uploaded to Equestria Daily-- I was a pretty big fan of fanfiction back then, and Past Sins was a pretty emotional story. And impressively long, too! I would check EQD a few times a day and Past Sins was a story that would always be instantly tabbed and read. Pen Stroke and Batty Gloom did a very good job. (I impress myself by just remembering their names!)

From time to time I come back to that old well of inspiration and dig up some old favorites like this, Out in the Cold and Twilight Sky Over Canterlot. It's both heartwarming and a little bittersweet to see that even a soundtrack had been made for Past Sins-- were any story in the MLP fanfiction stores to deserve one, I think this has to be it. I have since moved on from ponies but man do the early days of the FiM fandom's particular flavor of nostalgia shake me ever so much. I would be happy to go back to the way the fandom was in it's infancy.

I just gotta say, your orchestrations are absolutely beautiful. I have been looking for your music for almost a year, since I found the audio reading of Past Sins read by Illya Leonov. I've listened to every orchestration you've made, and each one was more beautiful than the last, but the original theme for Past Sins is by far my favorite. Every time I listen to it, I can't help but get swept away to a world in my mind filled with the serenity that comes with your music. From the moment I heard this wonderful theme- years ago now- I knew I would one day have to look into Past Sins. This theme does so much to capture the emotion and drama of the story and I am genuinely thankful to have been introduced to the story. You should be proud of this.

This story was amazing and this composition does it justice.

Nyx worked her way into my heart the same way the Mane 6 did and I feel like this theme captures her feelings more often than not in her moments of reflection.
