This is my 2017 Chevy Silverado with a worn out center console lid arm rest. In this video I am replacing the arm rest cover with a new one. This is a cheap way to fix this common problem.

Not too many of us have a staple gun the caliber of yours. I have several better than the average home staple guns but none would come close to going through the plastic. Some instruction videos just use glue of some kind but I don't care for that idea. I ended up using a pop rivet gun. After trying several sizes pop rivets I ended up using 1/8' x3/8' on 90% of the repair. After riveting and trimming the excess material I went around and worked 'shoe goo' under the remaining material just for extra/backup holding. I feel good about the results...it looks great & I will install it back on the truck tomorrow. BTW, quality instructional video.

that staple gun is from Porter Cable and it is an upholstery stapler. Porte Cable also sells the staples for it.

Thanks for the video! I’m gonna do my 2015 2500 when my cover comes in.

If you put the new cover in the dryer BEFORE installing the heat relaxes the fabric and those wrinkles disappear. Did it on my Acura MDX that way. Love the pneumatic stapler!

I just bought a 2015 Silverado and the center armrest cover is worn just like yours (worse, actually). I have a replacement ordered that should be here tomorrow. I had no idea how to disassemble the lid, until I saw your video. I have a pneumatic staple gun, what size staples did you use? I have some 1/4”, 3/4”, 1/2” and 7/8” available.

I don’t have a staple gun like yours so I used a hot glue gun. Worked like a charm.
